  • Built long swale with wood scraps in rocky North pasture to fence line, appox. 240 feet
  • Added brush swales near draw
  • Cleared brush and juniper out of draw to improve flow
  • Worked on river trail, remove flood debris from trail at draw
  • Removed mustard seed along shore and below steps

  • Watered all new plantings

January 28 2004

  • Removed appox. 1 acre of dense box elders near cypress bee tree
  • Removed with chain saw 20 large box elders for 500 feet or more along the river edge
  • Filled cuts with 20% vinegar to prevent regrowth

  • Removed Box Elders - in clearing at Cypress bee tree,
  • Used weed wrench and hand pulled 3 foot saplings in appox. 1 acre area
  • Removed fallen juniper across river trail, salvaged grape vine

  • Planted 4 rescued native cypress trees from river island to river edge near steps
  • Planted 4 lantanas - north side of house
  • Very dry - watered all new plantings
  • Caged all new plantings - very grazed
