  • Saw 12 Cedar waxwings in Red Oaks near feeder
  • Saw "Five Stripe" sparrows at feeding station
  • Young Cardinals male and female
  • 2 doves near house
  • Titmice and chickadees at feeder
  • Osprey seen with large perch in its claws at river
  • Fox at feeder area
  • Red wasps around house
  • Heard turkeys
  • Killed fire ant mounds near feeder

January 28 2004

  • Removed appox. 1 acre of dense box elders near cypress bee tree
  • Removed with chain saw 20 large box elders for 500 feet or more along the river edge
  • Filled cuts with 20% vinegar to prevent regrowth

  • Removed Box Elders - in clearing at Cypress bee tree,
  • Used weed wrench and hand pulled 3 foot saplings in appox. 1 acre area
  • Removed fallen juniper across river trail, salvaged grape vine
